MOONLIGHTING POLICY
Criteria:
- Shifts
will mostly be 6-12 hours in duration. This may change depending on need.
- Moonlighter
must not have received any unsatisfactory evaluations within the last 12
months. No ratings of 5 or less in
any category on a rotation evaluation form for the last 12 months.
- Moonlighters
must not be on probation. Anyone who is on probation cannot moonlight
until he/she is off of probation and granted permission to moonlight by
the ROC committee. Typically, the ban on moonlighting lasts for six
months.
- Moonlighters
must have demonstrated satisfactory performance during code Blue
situations. This determination will be made by the CMRs and program
directors.
- Moonlighters
must have current ACLS certification.
- Moonlighters
must have the approval of the ROC committee for moonlighting.
- Residents
moonlighting without permission will face disciplinary action.
- All
moonlighting schedules will be prepared by the CMRs and published on the www.sgintmed.com website and on the
notice board.
- Residents
interested in moonlighting will email CMRs preferably two weeks ahead with
the dates they would be available for moonlighting for the following
month.
- CMR’s will try their best to accomodate
requests on first come first serve basis.
- The
moonlighting duration will be decided by CMRs keeping in mind the new work
hour restrictions.
- Once a
moonlighting spot has been accepted, changes cannot be made without
informing the CMRs.
- In
case of an emergency, CMRs need to be informed ASAP.
- Residents
on weekend coverage cannot moonlight more than 24 hours a week.
- Residents
not on weekend coverage cannot moonlight more than 36 hours a week.
- No
Moonlighting is allowed during call months.
- Any violation to above policy will result
in temporary or permanent loss of moonlighting privileges and corrective
action will be taken.
