Radiation Oncology

Location: Harper Hospital

Coordinator: Dr. Arthur Frazier

Objectives:

  1. To acquaint the students with the use of all forms of radiation in treatment of disease.
  2. Acquire experience in daily management of cancer patients.
  3. Strengthen their knowledge of oncology; basics of diagnosis, interdisciplinary methods of treatment, and long term planning.

Methods:

The Radiation Oncology elective includes four separate rotations through the division. There will be three separate clinical rotations with the interns spending approximately one week on each service. Each service provides for intensive study with specific tumor types. Patients will be followed from consultation to treatment set-up and finally to institution of treatment. Each service will see different tumor types and hence allows for specialized instruction.
